Getting the right answer matters. It just isn't the only thing worth measuring.
Real understanding shows up when a kid can explain an idea in their own words, connect it to something they already know, and say why it matters. That's what we're actually watching for.
Every class is built around what we call the Formation Framework. Instead of simply asking, “Can you remember the answer?” we want learners to be able to say:

Classes run with four to six students, or one-on-one. Small enough that a teacher can tell the difference between a child who understands and a child who is keeping up.
Four natural checkpoints:
We don't grade for compliance. Every lesson passes through four checkpoints that follow how understanding actually develops. We make sure none of them get skipped.
Clarity
Can they explain it in their own words, or are they repeating the textbook?
Meaning
Do they understand why it matters, or only that it might show up on a test?
Ownership
Can they connect it to what they already know, or do they just recognize the answer?
Responsibility
Can they use it, see what follows from it, make a better call because of it?
